Kelly Bise’s 2000 Camaro SS stands as a remarkable achievement in automotive performance and engineering. Collaborating with Late Model Racecraft and KP Racing in Houston, Texas, Bise transformed this vehicle into a powerhouse, equipping it with a twin-turbocharged 427 cubic inch V8 engine that delivered an astounding 2,500 horsepower. In October 2012, at the Texas Mile event, driver Joe Huneycutt piloted the Camaro to a record-setting speed of 263.2 mph in the standing mile, earning it the title of the “World’s Fastest Camaro.”
This achievement was a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and high-performance modifications implemented by the team.
Tragically, during a subsequent Texas Mile event in March 2013, the Camaro experienced a catastrophic failure at approximately 220 mph. Remarkably, thanks to advanced safety features, driver Joe Huneycutt survived with minor injuries. Despite this setback, Kelly Bise’s dedication to pushing automotive boundaries remains relentless.
